MG Architecture & Interiors is a second-generation architectural practice with over 45 years of experience, originating in Izmir and now operating in both Istanbul and Izmir, Turkey. We approach architecture and interior design as an integrated process, considering each building as part of its urban context and the everyday life around it. Our design philosophy begins with an understanding of place, its character, and the needs of the people who inhabit it.
Working across multiple scales, from urban-scale planning and architectural design to interior architecture, material selection, and detailing, we develop projects that bring together spatial quality, functionality, and user experience. Our expertise spans residential and healthcare architecture, including villas, housing developments, hospitals, and clinics, as well as mixed-use, hospitality, and cultural projects. From concept design to implementation, we combine creative thinking with technical expertise to create thoughtful, functional, and enduring spaces.

ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR DESIGN

Melis Gürbüzbalaban Altürk
Architect, M. Arch.\ Founding Partner
Melis Gürbüzbalaban Altürk graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU) with a degree in Architecture in 2001 and completed her master's degree in 2004. She worked as a senior architect and project manager at GROUP A in Rotterdam, contributing to residential, cultural, office, and mixed-use projects. Upon returning to Turkey, she managed the architectural design and development of large-scale projects at Sinpaş Group.
In 2014, she established the Istanbul office of MG Architecture & Interiors, continuing the architectural practice founded in Izmir over 45 years ago as part of its second generation. Her work spans architecture and interior design across different scales and building types, with particular experience in residential and healthcare architecture.
Her approach to design begins with understanding the relationship between a building, its surroundings, and the people who use it. She considers massing, light, circulation, spatial organization, and materials as interconnected elements of architectural design. Drawing on her experience in design, project development, and construction, she works from initial planning decisions through architectural detailing and implementation, with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of the design throughout the entire process.
Mine Coşkun
Senior Architect · Founding Partner
Mine Coşkun graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Architecture in 1976 and completed her postgraduate studies in Urban Design in 1978. In 1982, she co-founded Mert-Gür Architecture in Izmir, establishing an architectural practice that continued with the founding of MG Architecture in 1998.
With over four decades of architectural experience, she has designed and developed projects across a wide range of scales and building types, particularly in residential architecture, healthcare facilities, educational buildings, and public projects. Her work at Mert-Gür Architecture alone includes more than 200 projects, contributing to the extensive design experience of MG Architecture & Interiors today.
Her architectural approach focuses on spatial organization, functional clarity, and the relationship between buildings and the people who use them. She considers each project's program, technical requirements, and everyday patterns of use as essential parts of the design process. Drawing on her experience in architectural design and project development, she brings together spatial quality, practical considerations, and long-term usability, creating buildings that respond to both their purpose and their context.
