CERAMIC STUDIO ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
Completed in 2022, the architectural and interior design of this ceramic studio in Bornova, Izmir was developed by MG Architecture & Interiors around the specific requirements of the production process and the user’s working habits. The project focused on creating an open and flexible workspace for creative production while integrating practical solutions for storage and everyday use. Concrete, timber and metal were combined to create a restrained material palette that reflects the workshop’s production-oriented character. Custom storage beneath the staircase, open shelving systems and purpose-designed worktables were developed to respond to the different functional needs of the studio. Large glazed openings bring natural light deep into the workspace, while the exposed ceiling, visible building services and metal lighting elements reinforce its industrial character. Custom metal-and-timber furniture and dedicated areas for different stages of ceramic production were designed as an integral part of the architecture. The project creates a highly personalized working environment shaped around the way the studio is actually used, bringing together functional requirements, creative production and a clear architectural identity.
